Memoir- January 19, 2009

Memoir Monday-Almost Lost
January 19, 2009

Even through the dim light, I could see mom’s surprised face. “Ally, your bird!” she gasped. I tugged on Libby’s leash to make her stop running. I turned and faced where mom’s finger pointed to .I saw my Dad running toward something. “That’s weird” I thought. “He never runs with kiwi on his shoulder. Just then something moving in the grass caught my attention. A wing looking thing stuck strait up. I could make out a couple of crookedly cut feathers against the sky. “Kiwi!” I whispered. Luckily Kiwi wasn’t hurt, but this event made me realize you have to be careful about things. Just like Kiwi. You have to take care of them and enjoy them, because there is not another one like them. I had wished for a parrot when I was little. Something I could call “Mine” I would never want Kiwi to be lost or even flattened by a car, if he had flown into the street. From now on I will cherish Kiwi more than ever because I think about how much he means to me
