Slice of Life #18
Impossible!
March 19, 2009
“Oh, it’s going really well” Mr. Busto said to my violin teacher. I knew he was talking about the choirs’ upcoming performance.
I closed my violin case, getting ready to leave.
“I have a lead soprano with a really amazing voice.” I heard him say.
Who? I wondered. Probably Caterina, she does sing pretty well.
I walked over to Mr. Busto. He was arranging papers on his desk, it was like he didn’t’ even notice me. “Your lead soprano is Caterina, right?” I asked, guilty for eavesdropping (they where right next to me! It wasn’t like I couldn’t hear them!).
“No” he replied shaking his head and smiling like there was some secret I didn’t know. “But she does sing very well!” He added on.
“No?” I repeated surprised. Now I was stumped! “Who is it?” I asked, just dying to know the answer.
“It’s Thor” he said cheerfully.
“Th…Th…Th…Thor?!” I said sounding like a complete lunatic.
“Yes! He’s got a beeeeeeeaaaaaaautiful singing voice” I stood there… gaping at his last words.
Was I just dreaming!? This couldn’t be true! It couldn’t…right?
“Wow!” I replied, not wanting to sound rude.
That whole day, I wondered what it would be like for Thor to stand in front of an audience, ready to sing. I wondered how Caterina felt. Was she jealous? Was she upset? I wondered how Thor felt. How did he have the strength and perseverance?
