Till the Last Feather

Slice of Life #14
March 15, 2009

“Ahhhhh…ccchhhoooo!” I sneezed uncontrollably. “Vrrrrrrroooooooommmmmmm!” I could see a car coming towards us.

Kiwi- who had been standing on my arm, suddenly flew off, terrified of my sneeze.

“Flap, flap, flap, flap” He flew farther and farther.

“OH NO!” I screamed. The car was just about to pass us- right as Kiwi was flying right in front of it.

Thinking fast, I yanked on the light-green leash attached to his ankle.

I watched as Kiwi spun around in the air, surprised that something was pulling him back.

“Good thing you had his leash on!” dad and mom (who had been watching the whole thing) said at the same time.

“Crazy bird!” I muttered angrily.

“He could have been a pile of feathers!” dad joked, still trying to get over the near death of Kiwi.

I picked up Kiwi and planted him right on my arm, holding him with my other hand.

“Stupid bird!” I hissed shaking and nearly crying from that horrible experience. I was just happy to still be able to hold him (alive).

I continued walking on that stupid sidewalk near the road, this time… being careful not to sneeze.
