Slice of Life
Truly, Really, I am
March 4, 2009
Oh look, close target I told myself as I stared at Sara; who stood right near the dodge ball border. Just aim low and for the legs, I told myself.
“WOOSH”, I lost my balance right as I threw.
I stumbled helplessly as the dodge ball soared through the air.
As soon as I stood up again, I saw Sara holding her hands to her face.
The whole world seemed to stop moving, as I stared at Sara. All the background noise was like a blur; all I could hear was a rhythmic pounding pulse.
Oh no! I thought as I rushed towards Sara.
“I’m so sorry!” I told her. Suddenly I saw Camila at her side; guiding her to the bench. “Are you alright?! I really didn’t mean to hit you in the face! I’m so, so ,so sorry!” I explained to Sara. “I really, really didn’t mean to.”
Sara uncovered her hands from her face.
I could see tears swelling up in her eyes. One eye was really red, just like her hole face.
I felt a tight knot in my stomach and my jaw started to hurt; I clenched my jaws together, an attempt to stop it. My head started to pound and I was sure everyone was staring at me by then and my face went bright red; I’m sure of it.
“It’s okay, I’m alright,” She reassured me. She said it a tone of voice I had never heard her use before.
She was trying hard not to cry.
I truly, really am sorry, I thought.
